Our club is both a social organization, with beginner lessons and social dance events, and a dance school, teaching novices and veterans a large variety of Ballroom and Latin dances. The summer lessons calendar is up! We will be holding our summer lesson series every Wednesday (with one exception on Thursday, June 25th) starting from May 27th and going until August 12th. Lessons will be held for the most part in Rangos Ballroom in the University Center. More information is below:
Advanced (focus on technique, must know the rhythm of the dance ) lesson: 6-7 PM
Beginner (newcomer, open to all) lesson: 7-8 PM
Open Dance: 8-10PM
$20 for just beginner lessons (7-8 PM)
$25 for beginner and advanced (6-7 PM)
$3 per single lesson (if you can't make the whole summer)
We will be featuring four 3-week series of dances for each level taught by our Grand Poobah of dance, Joseph Bradley (whom you may have taken lessons from in beginner 2 or advanced):
Advanced: Cha-Cha, V.Waltz, Samba, Tango
Beginner: Waltz, WCS, Quickstep, Rumba
Check out our calender for summer lessons.
We'll be starting on the 27 th of May 2009.
Come and make use of all the dances you've been learning at our mid-semester social this Tuesday in Rangos at 7pm! We'll have snacks, fun dances (lots of NEW ones!), and more! (The regular Intermediate and Beginner 1 lessons are being replaced by the social.)
Our Valentine's Ball went really well, with lots of people attending, a chocolate fountain, and fun events like a (somewhat crazy) dance-off! Get ready for our next social dance on March 24--this will be a Beginner lesson turned into a social so you can practice all the things you've been learning. And the chocolate fountain might return...
Join us for a Hustle lesson + lots of dancing, food, and fun!
Free & open to everyone--invite your friends!
Lesson with Andrew Pueschel 9-10pm in Hustle, followed by dancing until 1am.
There will also be speed-lessons in polka, swing, bachata, and salsa at 10:15, 10:45, 11:15, and 11:45 PM, respectively!
Free food and drinks!
There are lots of comps this semester; see the Competing page for a (long) list of them. If you're new to competing, ask an officer for more details! The competitions for this semester will be smaller than the fall competitions as they are mostly collegiate comps.
A new semester means new opportunities! If you are looking for a partner, or are looking to switch partners, a Partner try-outs day will be 6-9pm Friday, January 23, in Rangos 3. It will consist of an open floor and music to try out various partners until everyone is settled. We highly encourage all interested parties to come, practice, and dance with new people!
Our Spring semester lessons begin this week, so check out the Calendar page for details! Also, we'll be holding a social hour after each Beginner 1 lesson, open to everyone. These socials will be a great way to get to know more members, practice dances, and have fun! (The Intermediate lessons have been moved to 6-7pm on Wednesdays to make room for these socials.)
